Judge Dolan has defended municipalities and public officials in 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and § 1985 cases involving Fourth Amendment claims of unlawful searches and seizures, and excessive and deadly force, Fourteenth Amendment procedural due process and equal protection claims, including claims of selective enforcement. She has defended Fifth Amendment takings of private property claims and First Amendment claims of freedom of speech arising out of demonstrations, the right to petition the government for the redress of grievances, and retaliation claims. Judge Dolan has written and or orally argued hundreds of appeals and motions involving jury verdicts, evidentiary and legal issues. She has defended Article 78 proceedings, and cases involving intentional torts, including false arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, assault, battery and defamation. She currently serves as Town Justice for the Town of Mamakating presiding over misdemeanor cases, felony arraignments, felony hearings, violations of probation, probable cause hearings, and hearings to suppress evidence, and defendant's statements. She is a board member to Alternatives to Incarceration working with the County Probation Department to provide rehabilitation and treatment for defendants facing prosecution. She is an Accessible Magistrate for Adolescent Offenders. As Town Justice she created access via the court's website to on line resources to help pro se litigants. She set up a 24 hour online court payment system, and obtained a grant to install a hearing loop in the court room so that individuals with hearing disabilities can listen and fully participate in court proceedings. Judge Dolan is also the recipient of Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs of Sullivan County’s President’s award for pro bono legal service in support of wildlife conservation.
